Alum Oxide Chem help on energy and alum!!?
Assume that one aluminun can is completely reacted with oxygen to produce aluminun oxide, and that this energy can be completely converted to electrical energy. how long could this energy keep a 60 watt light bulb burning? Al= 26.98 g/mol O= 16g/mol
ΔHf= 1670kJ/mole, one can = 14g, 1watt= 1 J/s
2 Al & 1.5 O2 --> 1Al2O3 ...... ΔHf= 1670kJ / 2mole of Al
find moles, using molar mass:
14 g Al @ 26.98 g/mol = 0.519 moles of Al
find energy:
0.519 mol Al @ 1670kJ / 2mole of Al => 433.28 kJ
